ARTHUR FRISBY McLAUGHLIN DEXTER - Arthur Frisby McLaughlin, 79, died December 9, 1989 at his home in Dexter. He was born in Kingman, September 5, 1910, the son of Robert and Rosamund (McMullin) McLaughlin. He retired from the Maine State Police after 24 years of service, and also retired from the U.S. Army Reserves and from the U.S. Federal Service. He was a member of the Dexter Methodist Church and a Methodist lay leader for 15 years. He was a member of the Retired Maine State Police Officer's Association; an associate of the Maine State Troopers; a member of the American Association of Retired Persons; the Mystic Lodge #65 A.F. and A.M.; the St. John's Royal Arch Masons #25 of Dexter; the Maine Consistory 32nd Degree; the OES Wassookeag Chapter #44 of Dexter; the Grand Cross of Color; Order of the Rainbow for Girls; the Maine State Society of St. Petersburg, Fla.; the New England Club of Gulfport, Fla.; a 7th Degree member of the Grange, a Golden Sheaf member of Dexter Grange #155; member of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry; the East Somerset Pomona Grange; and an honorary member of the Junior Grange Patrons of Husbandry. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Black) McLaughlin of Dexter; one son, Robert McLaughlin of Somerville, N.J.; three daughters, Anne Crowley of Carmel, Rose Stocker of Exeter and Sally McLaughlin of Portland; one sister, Virginia Murch of Veazie; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Godding; and one grandchild. Calling hours were held on December 11 at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, Dexter, and funeral services were held on December 12 at the United Methodist Church in Dexter, with the Rev. Helen Zigmund officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the United Methodist Church of Dexter.
