Ithamer Bowles Merrill Ithamer Bowles Merrill died early Monday morning at his home in Grove Street, Dexter at the age of 86 years, after an illness of but a few weeks, due to general breakdown and advanced years. Mr. Merrill was born in Dexter and spent his whole life in his native town with the exception of that period of the Civil war during which he was active and courageous in the service of his country. He was united in marriage 57 years ago to Miss Mary Augusta Toward of Dexter and for the past 52 years they have lived in their pleasant home in Grove Street, where Mr. Merrill's death occurred. Mr. Merrill is survived by the widow and by three children, Dr. E. D. Merrill, Mrs. Ralph Hughes of Foxcroft and Mrs. Fred Marsh of Winchester, Mass. For many years he was engaged in the cobbler's trade and only recently ceased his labors. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist church. He was also a member of the Masonic order. He was a man of highest integrity and of genial nature and he will be missed and sincerely mourned by many friends. The funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at 10.30 o’clock The Rev. Geo. C. Sauer officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. The bearers were four members of Company A.
